"UPS, FLIGHT 1307 FEBRUARY 7, 2006"
-
The crew reported that they had a smoke warning light come on just before Flight 1307 landed at its destination airport (PHL).
Probable Cause: The National Transportation Safety Board determined that the probable cause of this accident was an in-flight cargo fire that initiated from an unknown source, which was most likely located within cargo container 12, 13, or 14. Examinations of the cargo containers and their contents revealed that a number of electronic devices, such as laptop computers, contained some type of power source, specifically secondary lithium cells.
Result: The crew members sustained minor injuries, and the airplane and most of the cargo were destroyed by fire after landing.
